Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: 5 August 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions. It sets out how MetalScan AI may and may not be used, so the platform stays safe, lawful and useful for every scrap yard, recycler, trader and individual on it.

1. Lawful trading only

  • Do not list, offer, buy or record metal you do not lawfully own or have authority to sell.
  • Do not use MetalScan AI in connection with stolen material, including infrastructure, cabling, catalytic converters, plaques or heritage items.
  • Comply with all scrap metal, licensing, cash-transaction, environmental and record-keeping laws that apply in your jurisdiction.
  • Do not use the platform to evade tax, sanctions or reporting obligations.

2. Honest data and marketplace integrity

  • Describe weight, grade, purity, condition and location accurately in listings and inventory.
  • Do not upload images that misrepresent the material being offered.
  • Do not place offers you do not intend to honour, or manipulate pricing through coordinated bidding.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to bid on your own listings or evade a suspension.

3. Responsible use of AI results

AI identification, grading and valuation are indicative decision-support outputs, not certified assay results. You must not present a MetalScan AI result as a certified laboratory analysis, a legal guarantee of composition, or the sole basis of a high-value transaction without independent verification.

4. Prohibited technical conduct

  • No attempts to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to access.
  • No scraping, bulk automated extraction, or reverse engineering of the platform or its AI models.
  • No penetration testing, load testing, vulnerability scanning or denial-of-service activity without our prior written consent.
  • No uploading of malware, or of files intended to exploit or overload our systems.
  • No circumvention of plan limits, scan quotas, paywalls or rate limits.
  • No resale, sublicensing or white-labelling of the service without a written agreement.

5. Content standards

  • Do not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory or infringes another party's rights.
  • Do not upload personal information about other people without a lawful basis to do so.
  • Only upload images you have the right to use.

6. Reporting abuse

Report suspected stolen material, fraudulent listings, abusive users or security vulnerabilities to contact.metalscan.ai@gmail.com. Please include the listing reference or account email where possible. We acknowledge reports within 24 business hours. Good-faith security researchers who report privately and allow us reasonable time to remediate will not be pursued.

7. Enforcement

Depending on severity we may warn you, remove content, restrict features, suspend or permanently terminate your account, and where the law requires it, report the matter to the relevant authorities. Termination for a serious breach does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid.
